Dorm

If you haven’t found accommodation yet or your housing contract hasn’t started yet, we have a relatively cheap option for you: it is possible to make use of the special Night Dorm that we set up for participants of the OWL Week. During the OWL we transform 2 of the Sports halls at the USC (University Sports Centre) into dormitories. We have room for approx. 175 students.
The Dorm is only available for OWL participants and it is non-refundable.

The USC is located about a 15 minute walk from Leiden Central Station and about 20 minutes from the city center. 

You can safely store your (large) luggage and put smaller items in free lockers for easy access. During the day the dorms will be closed except for supervised opening at fixed times so your stuff is safe.
During regular opening hours (7.30 am-11pm) the USC cafeteria will be open and available for drinks and snacks. At the USC free WiFi is available.

The price for the dorm is 78€, which includes 6 nights lodging and a simple breakfast every morning. The dorm opens on Sunday the 27th of August after 20.00 and the checkout from the dorm will be on Saturday, September 2nd, by 10 am. 

We also have an option for 65€, which includes 5 nights lodging (this options is especially for participants who have housing contracts that start on the first of September) The dorm opens on Sunday the 27th of August after 20.00 and the checkout from the dorm will be on Friday, September 1st, by 10 am.

Registrants of the dorm are required to bring their own air mattress and sleeping bag. We offer a limited amount of sleeping bags and air mattresses: both costs 20€ . You can find the dorm registration and air-mattress/sleeping bag options on the Dorm registration/payment form.
The air-mattress/sleeping bag you pre-order will be waiting for you at the dorm and they are yours to keep.

The Dorm can only be booked online for the fixed number of nights in advance. If you need a place for fewer nights you can report to the Coordination Team at the start of the OWL. They will be able to tell you if there is room available.

The cost for DORM or any additional purchases is non-refundable. 
The booked space is also non-transferable: ID’s will be checked daily at check-in

A group of capable and well-trained crew (Night Watch) will guard your safety during the nights.

You can check the box on the regular sign up form to indicate your interest. We will then send you a link to the actual sign up form. We do it like this because once payment is completed on the regular sign up we are not able to add any additional products. By doing it in this way participants can still sign up at a later stage if (unexpectedly) needed. Once you signed up, you will receive more detailed information shortly before the start of OWL. The deadline for signing up for DORM online is 18th of August 2023. (you can still sign up in person if there is room available).
